A senior party man told Business Recorder here on Saturday that the premier-to-be might send at least four ministers home and replace them with two senators and as many MNAs.
Amin Aslam from Attock and Hina Rabbani Khar, parliamentary secretary, might be among the new faces to be given the ministerial slots, the PML leader opined.
Hectic, rather desperate, efforts are on by ministers and aspirants of ministerial slots to get representation in the new set-up. Their absence was pointed out several times not only by opposition but also by treasury members during the NA session.
Repeated rulings of Speaker Amir Hussain, however, fell on deaf ears and the ministers spent more time with Shaukat Aziz in his election campaign than paying attention to their ministries and ensuring their presence in the House.
"Well, what I guess that there is hardly any new work at the ministries. Everybody is waiting for the new Cabinet to take oath, and who will get what assignment is the most asked question," smilingly remarked a minister who has been assured a place in the next Cabinet.
The PML leader said that the premier-designate was planning to field a 'new look' team with a blend of experience. However, some ministers will retain their ministries while at least two will get new slots, he said.
According to him, Information Minister Rashid is likely to get the ministry of labour and manpower and either Mushahid or Nisar Memon would replace him. Rashid has headed the ministry once.
Javed Ashraf Qazi is likely to be made minister for interior. However, the key government ally, Pakistan People's Party is resisting any change in the ministerial slots for its members.
One of PPP ministers, Munir Ahmed, Minister for Culture, Youth and Minorities Affairs, might make way for Mushtaq Victor.
Meanwhile, PML sources said that party was not happy over the reported announcement by Pir Pagara to part ways with Shujaat-led PML.
